Inaugural Australian F5J Trophy event
The 1st Australian F5J Trophy event was held at the NAAS field in Canberra on the last weekend of October.. We had 33 fliers in the end and completed 10 rounds in 1.25 days before the event was called off because of the increasing wind. Phil Stevenson won the event and Kalus Metzger won the Limited class both receiving the newly created trophies.
Thanks to many generous sponsors, there were many goodies to collect. Placegetters were able to choose two items each from the prize table, with the remaining entrants going through a draw then collecting two prizes.
A superb NAAS weber baked roast lamb and upside down cake dessert were served on Sunday evening and everyone really enjoyed it.

The first F5J World Championships have been set for 2019 and Slovakia, who began the event, have been asked to submit a proposal to run it. The Slovakians have been running a World Cup each August, and next year are running a Slovakian triangle; three F5J events at Trvana in one week so that overseas teams can come and try the site. We are going to try to assemble a team to go and are starting a fund to help our best fliers attend.
