You've arrived at the AEFA's website.
Q: Who is the AEFA? A: An Australian organisation fostering and promoting aeromodelling using electric power.
Come and see the many faces of Australian electric flight.

- Here you'll find things to help you enjoy and master electric flight.
- We have introduced the idea of electric flight 'know how'. It's information, together with accumulated skills and experience, that we want to share so you too can explore and enjoy the world of electric flight. For many, understanding the technology, or selecting components for an electric model, is a daunting prospect. We want to help. Our focus is on matters that are pertinent to electric flight and some of the differences from the IC world. We will try to point you in the right direction, present as broad a view as possible, and maintain brand independence. Visit the 'Know How' pages through the Resources Menu on the left.
- We also produce a monthly newsletter for members throughout Australia, with articles on electric technology, competitions, electric events and members' projects. Go to 'Newsletters' on the Main Menu and you will be able to have a look at some of the items that have been published over recent months and our 'Newsletter Gallery' shows some pictures from them as well.

update - from Peter Pine, President AEFA:
Sadly, I have to advise that Ray Pike passed away on Tuesday night 24 Apr 2012. He has been battling prostate cancer for some time and after rallying somewhat in Wangaratta hospital last weekend, he succumbed quite quickly in the end. I visited Ray after the NEFR at Albury at Easter and spoke with him for some time only just over two weeks ago. Ray was interested in electric glider flying right to the end.
Ray has been a powerful force in the development of electric flying in Australia, a significant member of the AEFA and our second life member. He first attended the NEFR at Nowra in 1989 and then offered to host the event in Wangaratta. From 1990, Ray and his wife Erica organised the NEFR in and around Wangaratta for some years - at least until 2000 when it was held in Wollongong, but returned to Wangaratta in 2001. It has been held at various venues since then, but has sporadically returned to Wangaratta over the years, all due to Ray and Erica's work. It was fitting that the event returned to Wangaratta again last year and Ray was able to visit and at least fly a few times.
In 1994, Ray and Erica organised the F5B World Championships in Wangaratta and it was an outstanding success. This gave electric flight an amazing injection of enthusiasm which has built up until this day.
Ray was a champion LEG and F5B flier. He first attended a World Championships as an Australian F5B flier in 1992 in the Netherlands with David Hobby and myself as the rest of the flying team and Erica as team manager. Ray has flown in several World Championships since then and consistently won the Jack Black trophy at Aussie Nationals for winning F5B. In recent years Ray has promoted and supported F5B and we are still sending pilots to World Championships because of Ray's influence.
Ray also managed the MAAA web site and was Chairman of the MAAA Electric Flight sub-committee. His work for our interest group has been tireless.
We will miss Ray and send our condolences and support to his wife Erica and daughters Kerryn and Jocelyn.
Depart in peace, Ray Pike!
